Category: Residential Architecture
Type: Tropical Residential Architecture
Area: Approx. 600 m²
Bedrooms: 6

Casa Kaikoo is a tropical residence set within the mature landscape of Hacienda Pinilla on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. The house is organized around a generous central garden and swimming pool, with separate volumes opening toward this shared outdoor space. Large expanses of glass, deep roof overhangs, and covered terraces create a fluid transition between the interiors and the surrounding vegetation. From above, the low horizontal volumes sit quietly beneath the tree canopy, while at ground level the garden becomes the visual center of the house. Natural materials and warm finishes reinforce this relationship with the tropical setting. Through architectural photography, the focus was on showing both scales of the project: its discreet presence within the larger landscape and the more intimate relationship between architecture, garden, light, and everyday living.
