Category: Residential Architecture
Type: Tropical Architecture
Area: 300 m²

Bersatu is conceived as a tropical residence in Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica, where architecture is defined by its relationship with light, materiality, and atmosphere. Designed by Estudio D3B, the project emphasizes warmth through the use of wood as a primary element, shaping both structure and spatial experience. The architecture opens generously toward the landscape through large operable wooden louvers that allow the living space to fully connect with the exterior. As the day transitions into sunset, light filters through these wooden screens, creating dynamic patterns of shadow and a unique sense of coziness within the space. The project balances openness and protection, allowing natural ventilation while maintaining privacy and comfort. Through architectural photography, the intention was to capture this atmosphere—highlighting how light interacts with material and space to create an intimate and immersive living experience within the tropical environment.
